Franklin's Renovated Historic Park
Construction of new pathways, a new staircase entrance, along with a handicap access ramp to the Town Hall were completed in Legend Park by Titan Construction in October. Handicap access to Whelan School (left), Town Hall (center) and St. Peters Chapel (right) is now available from the parking lot north of the schoolhouse. Weather permitting, new cedar shingle roofs will be added to the Town Hall and Chapel by J&B Construction before winter sets in.
Oktoberfest in Franklin
The Franklin Historical Society hosted its first annual beer-tasting event, Oktoberfest In Franklin, at Root River Lanes on Thursday, Oct. 16, 2008. B&B Liquor supplied 46 microbrews for visitors to sample while other local businesses offered a wide assortment of silent auction items and Vern & The Originals supplied background music. Nearly 70 individuals sampled the brews and bid on the auction items, generating $1,700 for the Historical Society's building preservation fund.
