On February 26, 2011, the Franklin Historical Society launched the first in a series of commemorative programs to recognize the sesquicentennial anniversary of the Civil War. This year's theme was "The Civil War in Song." It was a collaborative effort orchestrated by Dale & Barbara Pforr, Ken & Sue Gawrisch and Al Block and featured a host of vocalists, including Franklin Mayor Tom Taylor.
